Payment Fields are intended to be used to collect any sort of payment or gift. There are different types of Payment Fields; some set a fixed price... while others allow the form completer to calculate the amount. Let's look at which Payment Field is best for your individual form goals.
As a reminder, here is how you locate Form Fields:
-
Navigate to your manager dashboard, click on the Forms tab in the menu on the left, and select from your list of created forms. Your Form Editor page will appear. *If you just created a new form, you should already be on the Form Editor page!
-
View all Form Field options in the menu on the right side of your screen.
-
Locate the Payment Fields field family.
Payment Fields
Payment Fields are used to display cost, or accept a payment amount. When adding a payment field, you will need to choose a fund to tie the field or form to. These funds correspond with the funds that have been added to your giving portal via the Fund Management settings. Additionally, for each payment field, you can select to make a set Fund Goal and the progress of that goal visible (see below) to your givers. For more info on creating and editing funds, read more in Fund Management Overview.
Base Amount: automatically adds a set cost at the bottom of the form; ideal for forms with a minimum cost for submission
User Amount: allows the person filling out the form to input the amount they would like to pay; ideal for open-ended donation forms
Item Checkboxes: present purchase choices + dollar amounts, allows multiple selections that will be added together for a total; ideal for purchasing multiple "add on" items (item choices will show with each individual price as well as remaining inventory if applicable)
Item Radio Buttons: present purchase choices + dollar amounts, forces only one selection; ideal for purchasing one item out of a selection (item choices will show with each individual price as well as remaining inventory if applicable)
Item Dropdown: presents purchase choices + dollar amounts in a dropdown menu; ideal for showing similar items at a variety of prices (item choices will show with each individual price as well as remaining inventory if applicable)
Fund Dropdown: allow the user to choose from the funds* that the form is tied to; ideal for church giving page. *This loads the active fund options from your Fund Management page.
Note: If a Fund is added after a Form is created, the new Fund will NOT automatically be available for givers to select. Select the new Fund in the Fund Properties (gear symbol). You may also use this feature to determine tax deductibility of each fund.
Amount Buttons: present purchase options + dollar amounts on different buttons; ideal for suggested amounts, partnerships or sponsorships. By default, an “Other Amount” button appears for users to input their own dollar amount, but can be removed.
Calculated Amount: calculates total items, price per item, and max items per person *Use Calculated Amounts fields to cap submissions on forms offering a limited resource (ex. banquet with limited seats, class with limited books, etc).
Adding a Fund Goal Progress Bar
A great way to keep givers engaged and excited is by giving them a visual representation of how much money you're needing to raise. After setting a Fund Goal (in Fund Management), you can make that Goal Progress visible on your forms.
In any Payment Field's Properties (configure wheel), you will first need to select the appropriate Fund. Just below your fund selection, there is a check box to "Display fund goal on form".
Note: In a Dropdown Payment field, you'll be able to select which goals you'd like to display specifically from the Fund tab.
When selected, the progress of that fund goal will be visible on the form for your givers to see.
Options for all Field Types
Once you've decided on the appropriate fields to collect your data, you can begin to click the fields to add them in the order you need, or drag and drop them to the correct spot. As soon as you click and release a field, the Field Property box will appear. You'll notice three tabs at the top of most Field Property boxes.
General Info: customize the name, placeholder (example answer), help text (fine print or instructions)
Validation: make a field required or optional
Conditions: do you want a field on the form to always appear or only if certain conditions are met? (i.e. the "Select a size" field appears only appears if the registrant chooses "Yes" to the "I'd like to purchase a t-shirt" field.) You can set more than one condition if necessary.
If you need to make adjustments on an existing field's properties, click the gear symbol to the far right-hand corner of that specific field.
Email Placeholders
Almost all fields translate to a placeholder in your Form Email Notifications pulling responses right into those emails. For example, using the placeholder for a payment field within an email notification would create a receipt or proof of purchase for the email recipient. Placeholders will be automatically created and accessible in Form Properties.
