Website Updates: Layout & Verbiage Recommendations

Your giving page is where your organization’s vision becomes actionable. Don’t overlook this opportunity to engage givers!

If you don’t intentionally showcase giving on your website, you may loose givers in a maze of pages, ultimately frustrating their desire to be generous.

If you're a visual learner, check out these examples of real organizations with awesome websites.

Make it easy to give.

Here are some crucial components to an effective giving page.

Online Giving Link

  • Update your online giving link.

  • Include an online giving explanation.
To make a secure, one-time, or recurring gift, click the link and follow the simple instructions! For enhanced security, you’ll verify your identity with your cell phone number.

Text Giving Instructions

  • Clearly display your organization's text giving number + instructions.
    > Securely make a gift by texting GIVE to <your Giving Number>. You’ll be asked to register if it's your first time. Don’t forget to save our giving number in your phone! You can always text EDIT to update your information, set up a recurring gift, and check the status of a gift.

  • Consider including a customized rollout resource (slide, how-to video, etc.) on your website.

Security

  • Consider adding security information.
    > All sensitive financial information is stored with the highest bank-level security. Your phone number will never be sold, traded, or given to third parties. You will only be texted to confirm your giving.

Cast Vision

Honor the sanctity of giving.
Giving is a sacred space. Make sure your website doesn’t treat giving like a transaction. Treat giving as an act of worship.

Remind your organization why we’re called to give.
Include your organization’s giving philosophy. Is there a certain passage of scripture that your organization uses to teach about stewardship?

Be transparent & celebratory. Share results of generosity.
Transparency builds trust. Trust is the cornerstone of relationships. If you want people to give relationally, it begins with trust. Givers (and potential givers) are wondering, How exactly is my giving being used? Is it really making a difference? What happened to that special offering last month? Does my organization even need my giving?

Inform Givers of the Best Ways To Give.
Set up recurring Transactions- Choosing this option helps you stay consistent with your giving. Your gift is processed on a schedule you choose.
Use a Bank Account- Withdrawing from a bank account lowers our processing fee substantially. While we accept Credit and Debit cards, we encourage you to select Bank Account when possible.
Don’t go into debt– We do not wish to see anyone go into debt by giving on a credit card.
