With the new Multiple Org feature, adding a sub-organization (child org) under a parent organization is simple and can be done from within the Amplify interface. This article will guide you through the steps to create and manage child orgs.
Why Add a Sub Org?
Organizations may need sub-orgs to represent different branches, departments, or local offices. This feature allows you to maintain independence in terms of billing and module selection while keeping everything under the main organization’s hierarchy.
Who Can Add a Sub Org?
Only users with Org Owner permissions can create sub-orgs. This restriction ensures that only the most privileged users can modify the organizational structure.
Steps to Add a Sub Org:
1. Navigate to the Parent Organization
Ensure you are logged into the parent organization from which you want to create a sub-org. Only Org Owners will have access to the sub-org creation function.
2. Access the Manage Org Section
From the Amplify dashboard, click on the "Manage" tab. You will see an option labeled “Create Sub Org.”
3. Input Sub Org Information
Fill in the following details:
Org Name: The name of the child org.
Address: Enter the physical address for the child org.
Zip Code: Enter the postal code for the new org.
These details follow the same format as the initial Amplify sign-up process.
4. Select Modules
Choose the specific Amplify modules the sub-org will have access to. These can be different or similar to the parent organization’s modules.
5. Complete the Setup
After filling in the necessary details and selecting the appropriate modules, submit the form. The new child org will be created as a trial organization, and it will show up under the parent org in the hierarchy.
Managing Child Orgs After Creation
Once the child org is created, the Org Owner can manage its settings, invite users, and assign permissions. Each child org will have its own billing, and users can be granted access based on their roles.
