WordPress Event Widgets

Adding events to your site simplifies engagement, making tasks like finding directions, registering for classes, checking schedules, and contacting coordinators easier. Event Widgets allow you to add Events from your Amplify Website account onto your Amplify WordPress Website. These widgets are styled to match your chosen Theme and can be reused, restyled, removed, and re-added to pages throughout your site.

WordPress Event Widgets

This is an archive of all the events available on your Amplify Website module, which can be filtered based on your preferences. With the module's settings, you can select specific Categories, or Groups, and customize the number of events displayed per page. Additionally, you can choose which parts of the event are shown, providing varying levels of information.

Connect your Event Layout Widget to a Page using the Event Detail Widget to dynamically present detailed information about the event. 

Note: The Event Layout Widget consists of three tabs of content: Featured, List, and Calendar. During editing, all three tabs will be displayed stacked for easy styling adjustments. However, when previewing the page in your browser, the tabs will function as expected, displaying only one tab's content at a time.

This is a unique Event listing that displays the details of the current Event. You can link Event Layout, Event List, Event Featured, and Event Calendar Widgets to a Page using the Event Detail Widget, which dynamically showcases the current Event.

Each Theme includes a Page called "Ministry Content | Event Detail" that utilizes the Event Detail Widget.

This is a single Event listing that displays the details of a specific Event. You can link to a Page using the Event Detail Widget, which dynamically showcases the current Event. The widget is commonly used to highlight the next newcomer event on the I'm New page.

This grid list showcases all available Events from your Amplify Website module. In the Widget's Content > Settings, you can customize Categories, or Groups, as well as the number of events displayed per page. Additionally, you can select which parts of the Event to show, providing flexibility in the information displayed.

This calendar showcases all available Events from your Amplify Website module in a monthly view. In the Widget's Content > Settings, you can customize Categories, and Groups, as well as the number of months displayed.

Add an Event Widget to a Page

  1. From your Amplify Website WordPress Dashboard, navigate to the Page you want to edit and click Edit with Elementor.
  2. Click the Element Panel and search Events from the list.
  3. Drag your chosen Event Widget to the canvas.

Connect Your Event Detail Widget

If you've used the Event Layout, Featured, Calendar, or List Widget, connect it to a Page with the Event Detail Widget. This ensures that clicking on an Event title directs the user to its Detail Page.

To connect the widget, follow these instructions:

  1. Once any Event Widget is added to a page, click the blue pencil icon to edit the widget wp edit widget.png.
  2. Click the Content > Detail Options menu
  3. Choose the Page with your corresponding Event Detail widget. 

    Note: Your Amplify WordPress Theme comes with this Page already created called, "Ministry Content | Event Detail."

Your Theme's Event Templates 

Your Amplify WordPress Website includes different Page and Section Templates featuring our Event Widgets with advanced styling to match your Theme. You can easily add these Templates to any Page on your site to showcase Events and maintain consistent Theme styling throughout your website.

Your Theme includes: 

  • This Page Template includes an Event Layout Widget for your site's Event Archive.

  • This Page Template incorporates the Event Detail Widget to dynamically display the current event and also includes an Event List Widget to highlight Events Published as Featured. Whenever you utilize an Event Layout, Event List, Event Featured, or Event Calendar Widget, you can link it to the "Ministry Content | Event Detail" Page, which utilizes this Template.

  • Use this Section Template to feature specific Events on your site. Ex: Feature and upcoming Women's Event on the Women's Ministry page.

  • Use this Section Template to show a list of Events by Category, Group, Series, or Featured status.

  • Use this Section Template to show a calendar month view of Events by Category, Group, Series, or Featured status.

Follow these instructions to add one of these Templates to a Page.

  1. Click the Add a Template icon (gray Folder icon wp add a folder.png) from your Page canvas.
  2. Click My Templates
  3. Search "Events" 
  4. Select your chosen Template by clicking Insert.
  5. Click Apply

Now that a copy of the chosen Event Template has been added, you can click the blue pencil Edit icon wp edit widget.pngto edit the Widget.

Common Use Case

  • Feature by Topic: Add the next family friend event to the I'm New Page using the Event Featured Widget.
  • List by Category: Add Student events to your Youth Group page using the Event List Widget.
