WordPress Article Widgets

Incorporating articles into your church website boosts engagement and provides varied media resources like news, podcasts, and downloads, enriching the experiences of both visitors and active members. Article Widgets allow you to add Articles from your Amplify Website account to your Amplify WordPress Website. These widgets are styled to match your chosen Theme and can be reused, restyled, removed, and re-added to pages throughout your site. 

Using an Amplify Cloud Website?
Article Widgets are not currently available on Amplify Cloud Websites.

WordPress Article Widgets

This is an archive of all the articles available on your Amplify Website module, which can be filtered based on your preferences. You can customize the filters and number of articles displayed per page. Additionally, you can choose which parts of the article are shown, providing varying levels of information.

Connect your Article Layout Widget to a Page using the Article Detail Widget to present details about the article dynamically.

This is a unique Article listing that displays the details of the current Article. You can link an Article Layout, Article List, and Article Featured Widget to a Page using the Article Detail Widget, which dynamically showcases the current Article.

Each Theme includes a Page called "Ministry Content | Article Detail" that utilizes the Article Detail Widget.

This is a single Article listing that displays the details of a specific Article. You can link to a Page using the Article Detail Widget, which dynamically showcases the current Article. This widget is commonly used to feature a video or downloadable resource on a ministry page.

This grid list showcases all available Articles from your Amplify Website module. In the Widget's Content > Settings, you can customize Categories, Groups, and Series, and the number of Articles displayed per page. You can also select which parts of the Article to show, providing flexibility in the information displayed.

Connect your Article List Widget to a Page using the Article Detail Widget to present details about the article dynamically.

Add an Article Widget to a Page

  1. From your Amplify Website WordPress Dashboard, navigate to the Page you want to edit and click Edit with Elementor.
  2. Click the Element Panel and search Article from the list.
  3. Drag your chosen Article Widget to the canvas.

Connect Your Article Detail Widget

For articles, link the Article Layout, Featured, or List Widget to a Page with the Article Detail Widget. This ensures that clicking an article title directs the user to its detail page.

To connect the widget, follow these instructions:

  1. Once any Article Widget is added to a page, click the blue pencil icon to edit the widget wp edit widget.png.
  2. Click the Content > Detail Options menu
  3. Choose the Page with your corresponding Article Detail widget. 

    Note: Your Amplify WordPress Theme comes with this Page already created called, "Ministry Content | Article Detail."

Your Theme's Article Templates

Your Amplify WordPress Website includes different Page and Section Templates featuring our Article Widgets with advanced styling to match your Theme. You can easily add these Templates to any Page on your site to showcase Articles and maintain consistent Theme styling throughout your website.

Your Theme includes:

  • This Page Template typically includes the Article Layout Widget set with a Parent Category to act as a searchable list of Serve Opportunities.

  • This Page Template incorporates the Article Detail Widget to dynamically display the current article record and also includes an Article List Widget to highlight Articles Published as Featured. Whenever you utilize an Article Layout, Article List, or Article Featured Widget, you can link it to the "Ministry Content | Article Detail" Page, which uses this Template.

  • Use this Article Template to feature specific Articles on your site. Ex: Feature the Summer Camp Packing List article on the Camp page.

  • Use this Section Template to show a list of Articles by Category, Group, Series, or "Published as Featured" Status.

Follow these instructions to add one of these Templates to a Page.

  1. Click the Add a Template icon (gray Folder icon wp add a folder.png) from your Page canvas.
  2. Click My Templates
  3. Search "Article" 
  4. Select your chosen Template by clicking Insert.
  5. Click Apply

Now that a copy of the chosen Article Template has been added, you can click the blue pencil Edit icon wp edit widget.pngto edit the Widget.

Common Use Case

  • Serve Opportunities: Use Parent and Child categories to set up a listing of Serve Opportunities at church, in the community, or even globally with the Article Layout Widget.
  • Feature by Topic: Add an Article with an interview or your pastor or ministry team leaders to the Staff Page using the Article Featured Widget.
  • List by Category: Add Missionary Articles with video and newsletter updates to your Missions page using the Article List Widget.
