Form Properties: Submission

Submission

Controlling the number of submissions allowed for the Form, when the Form will be live, and what happens after a submission takes place is all defined in the Submission tab. A layout of each field is below.

form properties Submission tab

  • Submission Button Text: Leave the default 'Submit' text for registrants to know where to complete the form. This text can also be customized to direct users to the next action should a different action need to be completed.
  • Maximum Number of Submissions: Defines a general overall number of submissions that can be completed against the Form based on clicking the completion button. Leave this field blank to allow an unlimited number of completions. Adding a number will tally the total amount of times the Submit button is clicked. This is different than the Maximum Number Of Registrants which is noted below. Most times an organization will choose one method or the other when Forms need to be limited and closed after a certain number of completions have happened.
  • Submission Open Date / Submission Close Date: Placing a date in these fields will open and close the form based on full days defined. Say the form needs to open on January 1 and close January 20. Adding this date range will open the Form at the stroke of midnight at the beginning of the 1st and close submissions at the end of the day on the 20th at midnight. This function follows the time zone defined in the General Info tab. This will also look at the 'Event Registration' category.

Note: It is important to note that previewing in the form and other methods to review the layout remain open to the editor. Only external sources like the direct link and the embed code will be closed since this is the avenue a registrant would have access to.

It is a good practice to add an opening and closing date. Setting the close date especially will shut down the form after the registration window is closed. It will also help with the MinistryOne app for sorting multiple forms in the Events module and removes a Form there too once it has expired. You can always find the Form again when looking at the form list by searching for expired forms.

  • Maximum Number Of Registrants: The Person field set opens this functionality.
Limit the number of registrants tallied in the Form based on the Person field set properties before the Form closes. This is in contrast to the overall Maximum Number of Submissions which counts based on how many times the Submit button is clicked.
  • Enable reCAPTCHA for all submissions
  • Type Your Preferred Message Below: Customize the message a registrant sees once clicking the button to Submit the form. If adding an image, note that using the Picture tool in the editor requires the image to be hosted via a publicly accessible web address. Common places to host an image could be on your website or through file-sharing services.

Exercise caution here as permissions can cause the image to not display and local IT resources will need to help with resolving those issues. A good test is to paste the image address into the browser address area and see if the image is displayed. If it does, the image can be used in your message.

  • Redirect URL: After completing the form, use this to direct the user to the next place they should go. Often this is a landing page on the website where more information and direction are easily displayed.
  • Logout: If a user signs into the Form to autocomplete data, this feature will auto close the login, and the registrant will have to sign in again. Note that this also disables the redirect URL.
  • Additional Giving Opportunities: When "Enable additional giving opportunities after submission" is checked, the following displays. This allows you to select other giving forms to display after donors submit the main form. Find out how to set this up here.

  • Options for Increasing Gift Amount After Submission: When "Prompt donor to increase gift amount after submission" is checked, the following displays. This allows you to specify up to three percentage increase amounts to display after a donor submits the main form. You can Hide Increase Account by clicking the icon next to the Percentage Amount if needed. Learn more here
